Question Base alternatives: six Slack answer bots compared (2026)

Question Base is a Slack answer agent sold yearly, from $6,000 a year or $5 per user a month. The main alternatives are Slack’s own AI on Business+ ($15 per user a month yearly), Guru, Tettra, ClearFeed and eesel AI. Enhanciar fits if you also want answers from email, tickets and code, plus drafted follow-ups, at $100 a month flat.

What Question Base does

Question Base trains an AI agent on your company’s docs, wikis and past chats so it can answer employee questions inside Slack. It connects to sources such as Google Drive, Confluence and Notion (integrations). Experts can save or dismiss answers, and questions answered in Slack become knowledge for next time. It also shows analytics on how many questions it answered and which ones it could not.

That makes it a good fit for one job: cutting repeat questions in busy Slack channels, such as an IT, HR or sales-enablement help channel.

Question Base pricing in October 2026

  • Proof of Concept: $1,000 flat for two months, one channel.
  • Annual Pro: starting at $6,000 a year, or $5 per user a month, paid yearly. One team or department, unlimited questions and channels.
  • Enterprise+: starting at $20,000 a year, or $15 per user a month, paid yearly. Adds custom sources, deployment in your own AWS and multiple Slack workspaces.
  • No free plan and no monthly billing listed.

Why teams look for an alternative

  1. Yearly contracts. Small teams often want to pay month to month.
  2. Slack is not the only place they work. No Microsoft Teams support is mentioned on Question Base’s pages.
  3. They already pay for Slack Business+. Slack now includes AI answers on that plan.
  4. The questions need email, tickets or code. “What did we promise Acme?” lives in Gmail. “Why does checkout retry three times?” lives in GitHub and Jira.
  5. They want the bot to act. File the ticket or draft the reply after answering.

The short version

  • Already on Slack Business+ and your answers are mostly in Slack? Try Slack’s own AI first.
  • Need Slack and Microsoft Teams with verified content? Guru.
  • Want a written wiki with a Slack bot, at a published per-user price? Tettra.
  • Running an internal help desk in Slack with tickets and SLAs? ClearFeed.
  • Answering customers across Zendesk, Freshdesk and chat? eesel AI.
  • Want answers from Slack, Gmail, Drive, Notion, Jira and GitHub, with the follow-up drafted for approval, billed monthly? Enhanciar.

Choose Question Base or Slack AI if
  • Almost every question is asked, and answered, inside Slack.
  • Your answers live in Drive, Confluence or Notion docs that are kept up to date.
  • A yearly contract is fine (Question Base), or you already pay for Business+ (Slack AI).
Choose Enhanciar if
  • Questions need email, tickets or code as well as Slack and docs.
  • You want the same answers on the web, in Slack, and inside Claude or Cursor over MCP.
  • You want the next step drafted for you to approve, not just the answer.
  • You want to pay monthly, $100 for up to 10 people, with your own AI key and $0 markup on tokens.

The alternatives one by one

1. Enhanciar

Enhanciar is a company brain for every team: sales, support, ops, founders and engineers. It reads Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Notion, Confluence, Jira, Linear, Zendesk, GitHub and Postgres, answers with a link to the exact source, and says when it does not know. In Slack, mention @Enhanciar in a thread and it answers there. If it cannot find the answer, it can ask the most likely teammate and keep the reply. Then it drafts the follow-up for a person to approve. Limits: Slack is the only chat app (no Teams), there is no free plan, no CRM connector yet, and the SOC 2 audit is in progress.

2. Slack AI and Slackbot

In June 2025 Slack raised Business+ from $12.50 to $15 per user a month on yearly billing ($15 to $18 monthly) and folded more AI into it (Slack announcement). Slack’s help centre says Business+ includes AI answers in search, recaps and Slackbot, which answers from the messages and files you can see. Searching connected tools like Google Drive and GitHub is enterprise search, on Enterprise+ (Guide to Slack AI). The separate Slack AI add-on is no longer sold on the website. If you are already on Business+, try this first. We compare it in detail in Enhanciar vs Slackbot.

3. Guru

Guru keeps knowledge as verified cards and gives cited AI answers in Slack, Microsoft Teams and the browser. It suits larger companies that want strict ownership of every answer. Pricing is custom (Guru pricing). See Guru alternatives.

4. Tettra

Tettra is a knowledge base with an AI bot, Kai, that answers in Slack DMs and channels, plus page verification and stale-page reports. It is $8 per user a month billed yearly, or $10 monthly, with a 10-user minimum (Tettra pricing). Full list in Tettra alternatives.

5. ClearFeed

ClearFeed turns Slack channels into a help desk, with ticketing, forms, approvals and SLA alerts, and AI agents that answer from sources such as Notion, Confluence and Drive. AI agents cost $20 a month as an add-on on the Starter and Integrations plans and are included in Professional, with usage credits on top (ClearFeed AI agents pricing). Pick it for IT or HR help desks that need tickets and SLAs.

6. eesel AI

eesel AI is now mostly a customer support product: AI agents for helpdesks like Zendesk and Freshdesk, plus Slack and chat. The Teammate plan starts at $299 a month for 500 credits, with 100 free trial credits (eesel AI pricing). Pick it if your questions come from customers rather than colleagues.

How to compare them fairly

  1. Take 25 real questions from your busiest Slack help channel.
  2. Mark where each answer lives: Slack, a doc, an email, a ticket or code.
  3. Run them through two or three tools from the table and score each answer: correct, linked to a source, or wrong.
  4. Price the winner for 12 months at your real team size, including AI usage.

FAQ

Things people ask.

How much does Question Base cost?

Question Base lists three options: a Proof of Concept at $1,000 for two months, Annual Pro starting at $6,000 a year or $5 per user a month, and Enterprise+ starting at $20,000 a year or $15 per user a month. Annual plans are paid yearly, and no free plan is listed (questionbase.com/pricing, checked 25 October 2026).

Does Slack's own AI replace Question Base?

Partly. Since Slack's June 2025 plan changes, Business+ ($15 per user a month billed yearly, $18 monthly) includes AI answers in search and Slackbot over the Slack messages and files you can see. Searching connected tools such as Google Drive and GitHub is enterprise search, which needs Enterprise+.

Does Question Base work in Microsoft Teams?

Its homepage, pricing and integrations pages talk about Slack and do not mention Microsoft Teams, as of October 2026. Guru lists both Slack and Teams.

Which alternative is best for a customer support team?

If the questions come from customers through a helpdesk, look at eesel AI or ClearFeed, which are built around support tickets. If the questions come from your own team in Slack, a company brain or a Slack answer bot is a better fit.

How is Enhanciar different from Question Base?

Both answer questions in Slack with sources. Enhanciar also reads Gmail, Jira, Linear, Zendesk and GitHub, works on the web and over MCP, and drafts the follow-up (a ticket, a reply, a Notion page) for a person to approve. It is billed monthly at a flat price instead of yearly.

Is Enhanciar free to try?

No. Enhanciar is paid only: Solo is $24 a month and Team is $100 a month for up to 10 people, billed monthly, and you bring your own AI key. You can cancel any time, or book a demo first.
