Enterprise search on your own OpenAI key
Most AI search tools buy the model and resell it to you inside a seat price or credits. With your own key, you pay the AI provider at list price and see every cent. Here is which tools allow it.
Why teams want their own key
- Cost you can see. The provider bills you at list price. No margin hidden in credits or seats.
- Your agreement with the provider. Your content goes to your own account, under your own data terms with OpenAI, Anthropic or Google.
- Your limits. Set spending caps with the provider; on Enhanciar Team there is also a cost dashboard with hard caps.
- No question quotas. When you pay for AI directly, the tool has no reason to cap questions per seat.
What a question costs on your own key
Our estimate, with the assumption stated: a typical question sends about 8,000 tokens of sources and gets back about 600. At October 2026 list prices that is about $0.004 per question on Gemini 2.5 Flash (about $4 per 1,000 questions) and about $0.03 on Claude Sonnet 4.5 (about $33 per 1,000). Real questions vary; the maths is on the pricing page.
