An AI that knows why your team made past decisions
“Why did we pick Postgres?” “Who agreed to give Acme 60-day terms?” “Why is the retry limit 2?” The decision happened in a Slack thread, a meeting note or a PR review months ago. Here is how to get it back.
Why decisions get lost
Decisions are rarely made in a document. They are made in a Slack thread that ends with “ok let’s do that”, in a meeting whose notes nobody reads, in a PR review comment, or in an email to a customer. Six months later the people involved have moved on, and the new person repeats the debate or undoes the decision.
Four ways to answer “why did we decide that?”
| Approach | Cost | Effort | Shows the source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decision records (ADRs) or a decision log in Notion/Confluence | Reliable when people write them | High: someone has to write each one | Only what was written down |
| Searching Slack, email and PRs by hand | Free | High: you need to know where to look | Whatever you find |
| Asking whoever was there | Fast if they are still around | Interrupts a teammate | None |
| Enhanciar decision memory | Reads the threads, emails, docs, tickets and PRs you already have | Low: ask in plain English | Links to the exact message, doc paragraph, ticket or PR |
How Enhanciar’s decision memory works
- It reads where decisions happen. Slack threads, emails, meeting notes and transcripts you upload, docs, Jira and Linear tickets, and GitHub pull requests and reviews.
- It records the decision with its context: what was decided, why, who decided it, and the thread it came from.
- You ask in plain English: “why did we drop the annual plan?” The answer cites each source, so you can open the thread and read it yourself.
- It flags conflicts. If a later message reversed the decision, or two docs disagree, it says so instead of merging them.
- When it doesn’t know, it names the teammate most likely to know, can ask them in Slack, and files the reply so nobody asks twice.
- Then the follow-up. “Write the decision up in Notion” or “post it to #product”: the draft waits in an Actions queue until a person approves it.
For code: why is this line like this?
For engineering decisions, Enhanciar connects the line of code to the PR, the review thread and the ticket behind it, and answers “what breaks if I change this?”. The manual method is in Why is this code like this?

Ask it anything. Hand it the follow-up.
After the answer, say what you need. It drafts the work and waits in your Actions queue for a person to approve.
Orange dot: waits for your approval. Teal dot: pull-request review posts on its own, only on repos where you turn it on.

Is there an AI tool that remembers why we made decisions?
Yes. Enhanciar keeps a decision memory from your Slack, email, docs, tickets and GitHub: what was decided, who decided and where, and it answers with links to the exact thread or PR.
How is this different from writing ADRs or a decision log?
Decision records only hold what someone wrote down. Enhanciar reads the conversations where decisions actually happened, so it also finds the ones nobody recorded, and it can write the decision up as a Notion page after you approve it.
What if the reason was never written anywhere?
Enhanciar says it doesn’t know rather than guessing, names the teammate most likely to know, and can ask them in Slack; their reply is saved with a citation.
What if a decision was later reversed?
Enhanciar flags when sources disagree, for example an older policy and a newer one, instead of silently merging them.
How much does Enhanciar cost?
Solo is $24 a month and Team is $100 a month for up to 10 people (one flat price, not per seat), billed monthly; Enterprise is custom. Every plan is paid, and you bring your own Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic key and pay that provider directly; Enhanciar adds $0 on AI usage.
